Handsome Hank

In Loving Memory of a Loyal Hero—Continuing His Legacy by Helping Others Heal

Hank’s Story

In a small, quiet town in Arizona, a heartwarming story unfolded—one that showed the powerful impact of love, rescue, and community.

It all began with a call from Tim’s brother, who shared news that would change Tim’s life. He had given a dog to a veteran in Tucson, Arizona. The bond between the veteran and the pup was strong, but circumstances took a difficult turn when the veteran faced jail time. Wanting to ensure the dog was cared for, Tim’s brother reached out and asked if Tim could help until the veteran returned.

Without hesitation, Tim called his friend Dean, who lived in Tucson. Dean agreed to pick up the dog—who would soon be known as Hank. What he found at the veteran’s home was heartbreaking. Hank, once full of life, was tied up by his neck in the front yard. He was severely underweight, his bones visible, and fear filled his eyes.

Moved by compassion and a growing sense of responsibility, Tim rushed to Tucson to bring Hank home. In those first few days, it became clear that Hank had already found his forever home—not just a temporary place to stay, but a place where he truly belonged.

Determined to give Hank the care he deserved, Tim took him to the vet immediately. His wounds were treated, he received all necessary vaccinations, and he was neutered—marking the beginning of his journey toward healing and a brighter future.

Their lives took a remarkable turn when they discovered Grace & Integrity K9, a community dedicated to supporting both people and their dogs. Before finding this support, Tim and Misty had been struggling with severe anxiety and depression, often confined to their home—especially during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. Fear and isolation had taken hold, but Hank’s arrival became a turning point.

Just as Hank began to heal and grow more confident, so did Tim and Misty. Through training, support, and connection, they experienced their own transformation. They found healing, regained their independence, and began stepping back into the world. Simple things—attending church, volunteering at events, going out to eat, or shopping—became possible again, without overwhelming fear or anxiety.

Their renewed freedom also allowed them to spend more meaningful time with their daughter. Hank played a vital role in this journey—offering comfort, stability, and unwavering support. He became a steady presence in their lives, helping them break free from the isolation that once held them back.

What began as a temporary act of kindness became something much greater: a story of rescue, healing, and the life-changing power of a dog who found his purpose by helping a family find theirs.

What We Do

At Grace and Integrity K9, the health and well-being of our service dogs is essential to the success of the teams we serve. The Emergency Medical Fund was established in loving memory of Service Dog Hank, whose dedication, loyalty, and service left a lasting impact on our community.

This fund provides critical financial support when unexpected medical needs arise for service dogs participating in or graduating from our programs. From emergency veterinary care to urgent treatments and procedures, the fund helps ensure that medical costs never become a barrier to a dog’s ability to continue serving or a handler’s ability to receive the support they depend on.

Created to honor Hank’s legacy, the Emergency Medical Fund reflects our commitment to protecting the dogs who give so much of themselves in service to others. Through the generosity of donors and supporters, we are able to respond quickly and compassionately during times of medical crisis, safeguarding the health, comfort, and longevity of our service dog teams.

We invite you to learn more about the Emergency Medical Fund and consider supporting this meaningful initiative. Together, we can honor Hank’s memory by ensuring that every service dog receives the care they need to continue changing lives.

With Your Help, We are Making The World a Better Place

Donating to Handsome Hank’s medical fund means turning loss into lasting impact. Veterinary care—especially emergency treatment, surgeries, and long-term management—can quickly become overwhelming for families, even those who depend on their service dogs every day. Your support helps ease that burden so handlers can focus on healing, not choosing between care and cost.

This fund carries forward Hank’s legacy by helping other service dog teams stay together, healthy, and working. It supports life-saving treatment, preventative care, and recovery resources that keep these dogs able to do what they do best—provide independence, safety, and companionship.

Every donation honors Hank’s life by giving another dog the chance to keep showing up for their person.

A Letter from the Board

Dear Supporters, Friends, and Community Members,

It is with both heavy hearts and deep gratitude that we write to you in honor of Handsome Hank—a devoted service dog whose impact reached far beyond what words can fully express.

Hank was more than a working dog; he was a steady presence, a source of independence, and a loyal companion. His dedication and unwavering spirit embodied everything we strive to uphold. Though his passing leaves a profound void, his legacy continues to guide our mission and inspire our work every day.

In Hank’s memory, we have established a medical fund to support service dogs and their handlers who face the often overwhelming cost of veterinary care. These dogs are not only companions—they are lifelines. Ensuring they receive timely, quality medical care means preserving the independence, safety, and well-being of the individuals who rely on them.

Your support of this fund directly helps families avoid impossible decisions in times of crisis. It allows service dogs to receive life-saving treatments, preventative care, and recovery support so they can continue their vital roles. In giving, you are not only honoring Hank—you are extending his legacy of service to others in need.

We invite you to join us in celebrating Hank’s life by making a contribution, sharing his story, and standing with us in support of service dog teams everywhere.

Thank you for your compassion, generosity, and commitment to this mission.

With sincere appreciation,

The Board of Directors
