We Have the Power to Impact Our Future, and We’re Doing Something About It

Our commitment to the disabled community extends beyond training service dogs. We are dedicated to advocating for meaningful change that protects the rights, dignity, and access of individuals who rely on legitimate service dogs in their daily lives.

The growing presence of untrained and misrepresented “service dogs” creates serious challenges for individuals with disabilities. These situations can undermine public trust, compromise safety, and lead to increased barriers for those who depend on properly trained service dogs for independence and support. We actively work to raise awareness about the differences between trained service dogs, emotional support animals, and pets falsely represented as service animals.

Through education, outreach, and collaboration with community leaders and policymakers, Grace and Integrity K9 supports efforts to improve clarity, understanding, and consistency surrounding service dog access and protections. Our focus is on promoting responsible practices, public safety, and respect for individuals with disabilities, while encouraging thoughtful consideration of policies that impact the service dog community.

We also prioritize educating businesses, organizations, and the general public about service dog standards, access rights, and respectful interactions with handlers. By promoting awareness and accountability, we help foster inclusive environments where individuals with disabilities can participate fully and confidently in everyday life.

Policy-Neutral Disclaimer

Grace and Integrity K9 is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization. We do not endorse or oppose any political party, candidate, or legislation. Our advocacy efforts are educational in nature and focused on raising awareness, promoting best practices, and supporting dialogue around issues affecting individuals with disabilities and legitimate service dog teams. Any references to laws or policies are intended solely to inform and encourage responsible understanding and community engagement.

Advocacy is an essential part of our mission. By standing alongside the disabled community and promoting awareness and integrity within the service dog space, we strive to create positive, lasting change.

We invite you to join us in this effort—through education, support, and shared responsibility—as we work toward a more informed, respectful, and accessible world.

Access Denials & Discrimination

Access denials and discrimination occur when individuals with service dogs are refused entry, treated unfairly, or questioned inappropriately in public spaces where they are legally allowed to be. These situations are often the result of misunderstandings about service dog laws or lack of awareness. Such actions not only violate the rights of handlers but can also disrupt their safety, independence, and daily life.

Safety Risks & Interference

Safety risks and interference occur when a service dog’s ability to work is disrupted or endangered. This can include distractions from the public, loose or aggressive pets, intentional interference, or unsafe environments. Even brief interruptions can break a dog’s focus, potentially putting the handler at risk. Respecting a working service dog means giving the team space, not interacting without permission, and maintaining a safe, controlled environment.

Public Misperception

Public misperception of service dogs often stems from a lack of understanding about their role, training, and legal protections. Many people confuse service dogs with pets or emotional support animals, leading to inappropriate interactions, access challenges, or unrealistic expectations. These misunderstandings can create barriers for handlers and disrupt the important work service dogs perform.

Legal Challenges

Legal challenges for service dog teams often arise from inconsistent understanding and application of the law. While service dogs are protected under federal regulations, confusion among businesses, housing providers, and the public can lead to unlawful questioning, access denials, or improper documentation requests. Navigating these situations can be stressful for handlers and may require advocacy or clarification of their rights.
